Yesterday we spoke about sanitation & hygiene, so the obvious next topic is workplace safety. Unfortunately another part of the program that is often overlooked. Every foodservice facility should have at the very least one person to oversee a safe working environment. Ironically this policy is generally overlooked. The incidence of work related injuries in foodservice operations is pretty high, and even one accident can cause the mill rate for WCB coverage to sky rocket. Can you understand the importance? In addition to this having a person dedicated to this role can also ensure that management and owners will hopefully be inspired to improve conditions for employees.
