Glamping, Uptown Camping
We did a little thing on picnics the other day, today let’s chat about camping. In Canada we really maximize our summer season, after all it’s kind of Short. Recreational vehicles, boats, motorcycles, and of course various other things. Camping is a great way to experience Canada, and it’s affordable. Glamping is just kicking it up a notch. From my end of the stove, I like to make it a culinary adventure.
It’s all about the food.
I’ve been on a few camping like adventures, some glamorous, others not so much. Glamping by definition is basically the easier, softer version of full out tent camping. It basically references quasi park and car camping, with the occasional motel/hotel stay along the way. I typically like to purchase my food locally, and cook at the site. It allows you to experience the local community and flavours. Also makes for a fun day of shopping and exploring, with the eventual goal of heading back to cook an interesting meal.
If you happen to be looking for a great research tool for menu planning your trip, try mastercook. It really simplifies the whole process, search for recipes, download, create a 7 day menu and print your shopping list. DONE. Obviously planning is a big part of camping. Once you know what you are cooking along the way, you can plan the rest. Tools, pots and pans, utensils, etc. Don’t forget the beverages, bring the things you enjoy, be they alcoholic or otherwise. It’s all about economy and pleasure in balance. Happy Monday, hope you are enjoying your summer! Cheers.
